At the Nelson Society of Modellers, we are always happy to have new members!

If you have a passion or interest in Railways, model-making, or engineering, then we encourage you to consider joining. Everybody is welcome, regardless of experience, knowledge or skill.

While many members build or own their own models, the club owns diesel and electric locomotives that members can learn about and gain a licence to drive. We have several different small-scale layouts in the clubrooms, as well as many stationary engines, boats, and other static displays that members can use and help maintain.

All our members are volunteers, and together we operate our miniature ride-on railway and clubroom model displays each Sunday, weather permitting.

On the fourth Tuesday of each month, our members’ evenings provide the opportunity to meet up, share news or track, locomotive or model developments, alongside our own exciting personal engineering projects

We also hold regular working bees to maintain our site and complete track maintenance throughout the year.
